What should i expect at each personal training session?
Your first session with Sandra will be a consultation and fitness assessment. After having a chat and discussing your needs, goals and health history, we can start planning your program. After a quick warm-up, you will complete a simple fitness assessment. You should wear comfortable clothes and bring some indoor running shoes. Most of the workout can be done in sock or bare feet, but you will be more comfortable in running shoes on the stationary bike.
Your first full training session will be a straight forward workout that will allow Sandra to fully assess your strengths and weaknesses. Each following training session will progress and be modified to meet your needs and to ensure you meet your goals.

why personal training when i can go to the gym for less?
Gyms are great... if you have the knowledge of safe and effective workouts that will ensure you will achieve your goals... and have the motivation to go. Personal trainers offer you the expertise of proper training techniques and will ensure you are doing the best workout for your needs. There is no "one size fits all" workout. Trainers will work with each client as an individual and create a program that is suited to their unique goals and needs.
Having a personal trainer will also ensure you are kept motivated and do not skip workouts. It is really easy to put your workout off until tomorrow... and then tomorrow turns into never. Having an appointment with a personal trainer and knowing that they are waiting for you to show up for your workout will ensure that "I'll do it later" thought does not have a chance to hold you back.

why does sandra offer 30 or 60 minute sessions, but not 45 minute sessions?
45 Minutes is a great length of time for a workout... so, why do I only offer 30 or 60 minutes? Because most clients need time with a trainer to warm up, cool down and stretch. I have met very few clients that have the discipline to warm up properly on their own... and even fewer that will stretch properly on their own. Everyone has great intentions, but life seems to get in the way.
For clients that enjoy running and just want to ensure proper muscle balance, I offer the 30 minute program. These clients are able to run before or after their session with me and will do their stretches on their own after their run and workout are complete. Running can be hard on your body, but with proper cross training, a runner can protect their joints and enjoy running for years to come.
The 30 minute program is also great for a core rehab program for moms and moms to be. Sandra specializes in pre and post natal health and fitness and has worked to help moms repair their core since 2007.
The 60 minute program allows me time to complete a full 45-50 minute workout as well as warm up, cool down and stretches as required with each client.
All that being said... if you would like to book a 45 minute session, Sandra is happy to accommodate and will offer a pricing package to suit your needs.

what if i need to cancel a session with short notice?
I have always been flexible and understanding with my clients... as long as they respect my time. I do have a cancellation policy and I ask for 12 hours notice of cancellation... but, it is rare that I will charge a client for a missed session with less notice. I understand that life does not always give you 12 hours notice... but, if there is a pattern of last minute cancellations, I will be forced to charge for last minute cancellations.
But, I am sure we can come up with a schedule that will work with your busy life and that this will not be a problem.

is it safe to workout during my pregnancy?
Yes! As long as your doctor or midwife has given you the all clear, exercise is great during pregnancy! I am a certified and experienced pre and post natal trainer. Each pregnancy is unique and each prenatal workout is unique. I will ensure your workout is safe and effective and will be able to guide you through any aches and pains you encounter throughout your pregnancy.
Can I bring my child(ren) with me for my workout?
YES! Sandra has a play area set up for kids of all ages and will help keep your little ones safe and happy during your workout. There are no additional fees for this... as a mom, Sandra understands the demands of fitting in time for a workout with children.
where does sandra offer training sessions?
I have an in-home training studio in my basement that is fully equipped, bright and clean. There is parking in the driveway or on the street for free.
For clients that are in the area, I am happy to discuss coming to your house for a workout. There may be an additional fee for this, but we can discuss this more in person.
When the weather cooperates, we can head down to the beach or a local park... it is always nice to workout in the fresh air!
